WRT54GL Wireless Broadband Router Reviews

Read customer reviews below for the Linux Linksys-Cisco WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router

Solid router. Great range. Great speed. 0 issues. Basically everything you could possibly ever want (except for the latest N).
-Fully supports great 3rd party firmware (way better than stock firmware). Fully supported by Tomato, Sveasoft, OpenWrt, and DD-WRT.
-200 Mhz processor. 16 MB RAM. 4 MB Flash memory. Compare this to the WRT54G that only has 8 MB RAM, 2 MB Flash memory.

This WRT54GL router with open source firmware is more than the little box that could. It is so cool what it can do. It is so cool what users and open source programmers have built for themselves on this hardware.

Now if only it could implement and document this stuff, like different possible mesh networking settings as simply as an Airport Extreme Base station does it would be the world largest and most polished blue diamond.

Still, you can't put a price on the free firmware responsible for this little box's abilities.

A very good WRT54GL router. I have tried a very expensive other brand and I got it to connect once...but it was short lived. This router connects to my PSP, itouch, two laptops and my PS3 without loss. Using one laptop as a server for the PS3 and it streams super fast.

Plenty of pc experience building and repair. Little knowledge of routers. Suggest you better be saavy about routers before trying this. The auto set-up would not work. Even after re re rereading notes had to call Cisco. This is the bright spot. They know their product and in about 15 minutes had me up and running. Probably would still have trouble going
back and doing this solo. Guess to old for this stuff.
